Children's Software Review, says
Rating: 3.7 out of 5.
"Teaches: math: geometry, algebra, trigonometry, probability
Recently updated, this program offers rich content and ideas,
but suffers from crude
graphics and narration. Still, it goes a long way in showing how math is
used in everyday life. Concepts are broken down into manageable parts and
delivered via text, narration and interactive animation. There are games
and puzzles, math labs, guided tours of main concepts and more. The program,
despite its faults, is a good resource for teachers. Kids will be turned
off by the program's look and feel, but teachers can use it to illustrate
mathematical ideas and to borrow activities and experiments that will work
nicely in the classroom."

ABC's of Parenting website provided websurfers with reviews and ratings of the absolutely best
websites of interest to families and parents-to-be. However, it seems to have disappeared,
and I can no longer find it on the web. The review they provided said:
"This CD-ROM offers mathematical magic, games, and a Math Lab, where the
student can figure out math for himself by experimenting."
Superkids Educational Software Review
tests and rates educational programs of all kinds. Look at this review
to see some severe criticism of Gnarly Math.
We found parts of this review frivolous or wrong. They
objected to our asking for the first and last names of students, though of
course the names supplied can be nicknames--we only use the name to identify
the user. And the review stated that replies to problems were called incorrect
if the answers were not in an exactly prescribed format. We have not been
able to find examples of such behavior in Gnarly Math, and Superkids
could not point to specific examples. We suspect the testers actually gave wrong
answers without realizing it.
"Although our testers were generally intrigued by the
math problems, those on the younger end of the age-spectrum thought that
most were too difficult. The puzzles section, which includes optical illusions,
card tricks, and the like, and the labs section, with math trivia and tips
were generally well-liked by our testers."
We hope all you parents, homeschoolers, teachers, and kids
have learned something about fun math, have perhaps ordered our math CD-ROM or the
